How to apply: BITS-RMIT higher education academy
This page outlines the admission process for all integrated, first-degree academy undergraduate programs.

Applying to the BITS-RMIT higher education academy is a two-part process. Please review the steps carefully. Applicants must meet the entry requirements of both individual institutions to qualify.

- Part 1: Apply to BITS Pilani
Complete your standard BITS application and lock in your program preferences for the BITS-RMIT higher education academy latest by the BITSAT preference edit window 5 to 7 June 2026. - Part 2: Provide additional documents for RMIT admissions assessment
- Activate your access to BITS RMIT admissions student portal. Once your preferences are logged, you will receive an email from RMIT with credentials and instructions to activate your account on the BITS-RMIT admissions student portal.
- Log into your newly activated RMIT portal and upload the following documents:
- Official academic transcripts: A copy of your AISSC (CBSE), ISC, State Board HSC, or equivalent qualification showing overall completion and exact marks/grades for all attempted subjects.
- English language proficiency: Valid evidence matching the criteria outlined below.
- Visa questionnaire: Complete the mandatory preliminary visa screening questionnaire available through the portal.
- Part 1: Apply to BITS Pilani
Admission is strictly competitive. Applicants who meet the base requirements for both institutions will be ranked according to their moderated BITSAT scores. Offers are issued from the top ranking down until all seats are filled.
Applicants who meet entry requirements will be ranked based on their moderated BITSAT score. Offers will be issued to the top ranked applicants down, until places are filled.
BITS entry requirements
Admission into Academy programs will be made based on marks obtained in the BITS admission test (BITSAT) score.
Applicants should also fulfil the minimum eligibility requirement of BITS Pilani for admission as follows:

- The applicant has passed the 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) and adequate proficiency in English;
- Also, the applicant has obtained a minimum of aggregate 75% marks in PCM in 12th examination, with at least 60% marks in each of the PCM subjects.

Every RMIT program has its own specific academic entry requirements. You will find them under the heading admissions requirement in each program summary.
English language requirements
Applicants must meet RMIT’s English Language proficiency requirements as follows:
Applicants can provide evidence of your English language proficiency for admission to BITS RMIT Higher Education Academy program from one of these options:

- Achieved 70% or above in Year 12 English subject score in Indian School Certificate examination (ISC).*
- Achieved 75% or above in Year 12 English subject score in Central Board of Senior Education examination (CBSE).*
- If applicants have other secondary qualifications or do not meet the subject score requirements listed above, they will need to provide English language proficiency tests results. RMIT accepts a range of English proficiency tests. Refer to English language proficiency tests for international students website for the list of acceptable tests and scores required for admission.
(*) You must provide an official letter from your high school office confirming that your Year 12 studies were taught and assessed entirely in English.

Visa requirements
Academy students will require a visa issued by the Australian Government to study in Australia for years 3 and 4 of their programs.
Your application will also be assessed under the Simplified Student Visa Framework (SSVF) to ensure a smooth transition when it comes time to transfer to Australia. For more details please refer to our apply for a visa information page.
Students are required to apply for an Australian student visa during Year 2 study at BITS, India. It is important to note that students must meet the student visa requirements.
Transition to Australia
At the start of the second year of their Academy program in India, students should start planning for their move to RMIT in Australia. RMIT University will support the students with the transition process, including providing the necessary documentation to apply for a student visa and resources to make the process easier.
