How do I apply for the BITS-RMIT Higher Education Academy?

For admission to all the Academy programs, candidates should have passed the 12th class examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and adequate proficiency in English.

  1. The first step in the application process is sitting the BITSAT entry exam.
  2. After appearing in the BITSAT entry exam, candidates have to apply for admission to the BITS-RMIT Higher Education Academy program with the option of their program preferences.
  3. Applicants who have preferenced the Academy and achieved the applicable cut-off score for their program through the BITSAT will be contacted directly by RMIT to complete its selection process.

Applicants must meet the entry requirements for both BITS and RMIT to qualify for entry into the Academy programs

BITS Entry requirements

Admission into Academy programs will be made on the basis of marks obtained in the BITS admission test (BITSAT) score.

Timing: Applications for the BITSTAT test open around December each, with the test to be taken in May.

RMIT Entry requirements

Every RMIT program has its own specific entry requirements. You will find them under the heading Admissions in each program summary.

English Language requirements

You are required to provide current evidence of your English language proficiency for admission to RMIT. Students can provide their results in the form of one of these common English language proficiency tests:

IELTS (Academic) 6.5 (no band less than 6.0)
TOEFL (Internet Based Test – iBT) Overall score 79 (with minimum score of 13 in Reading, 12 in Listening, 18 in Speaking and 21 in Writing)
Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE (A)) 58 (no communication band less than 50)

Students are required to submit evidence of meeting English language requirements before commencing an RMIT program

Transition to Australia

Before the end of the second year of their Academy program in India, students should start planning for their move to RMIT in Australia. RMIT University will support the students with the transition process, including providing the necessary documentation to apply for a student visa and resources to make the process easier.

Student visas

Academy students will require a visa issued by the Australian Government to study in Australia for years 3 and 4 of their program.

Students should check their eligibility, and requirements to obtain and maintain a visa prior to confirming a place at the Academy.
