BITS Pilani and RMIT University Launch Global Dual-Degree in Computer Science to Shape Next-Gen Technology Leaders

National, 25 June, 2026: BITS Pilani, an Institute of Eminence, announced the launch of a new Bachelor of Computer Science programme in collaboration with RMIT University, Melbourne, under the BITS-RMIT Higher Education Academy. The programme will be offered from the 2026 academic intake, further strengthening one of India’s most successful transnational education partnerships.

Delivered through the Academy’s established 2+2 study model, the programme enables students to complete the first two years at BITS Pilani in India, followed by two years at RMIT University’s Melbourne campus. Graduates will receive dual qualifications, a B.E. Computer Science from BITS Pilani and a Bachelor of Computer Science from RMIT University, offering them a strong competitive advantage in the global job market.

Designed in response to the rapidly evolving digital landscape, the programme provides a robust foundation in artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, cloud computing, software engineering, and data science, alongside experiential learning through industry projects, programming studios, innovation bootcamps, and capstone assignments. The curriculum combines academic rigour with real-world application, ensuring that graduates are industry ready and future-focused.

The launch marks the fourth intake of the BITS-RMIT Higher Education Academy, expanding its portfolio to six programmes. Established in 2023 under the framework of India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Academy has become a benchmark for globally integrated, industry-aligned education.

Students enrolled in the programme will benefit from internationally recognised credentials, with RMIT’s Bachelor of Computer Science accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS) under the Seoul Accord, enabling global recognition across leading economies. In addition, the programme offers a structured transition pathway, including academic mentoring and cultural orientation, culminating in a fully funded immersion visit to Melbourne during the first year to prepare students for their international journey.

Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao, Group Vice-Chancellor, BITS Pilani, said, “This programme reflects our vision to create globally relevant and future-focused learning pathways. In partnership with RMIT, we are equipping students with cutting-edge technical skills, international exposure, and industry experience needed to thrive in the digital economy. It is an important step towards nurturing globally competent technology leaders.”

Professor Alec Cameron, Vice-Chancellor and President, RMIT University, added, “The continued growth of the BITS-RMIT partnership draws on our combined strength in STEM training and our commitment to giving students access to outstanding, industry-connected education in one of the world’s most in-demand fields.”

This programme reinforces BITS Pilani’s commitment to expanding high-quality, globally integrated learning opportunities that align with the demands of the future workforce. By combining academic excellence with international mobility and industry relevance, the BITSRMIT Higher Education
