BITS-RMIT Higher Education Academy adds Software Engineering to new intake

The BITS-RMIT Higher Education Academy is pleased to announce it will now offer a new dual program – a Bachelor of Engineering, Computer Science, BITS Pilani and Bachelor of Engineering – Software Engineering (Honours), RMIT University that will be launched for the upcoming August 2024 intake.

This new offering will expand activity of the Academy to the BITS Pilani Goa campus.

The BITS-RMIT Higher Education Academy was formed in 2023 and originally offered four dual degree undergraduate engineering programs.

The delivery model for this new dual degree offering aligns with the existing four undergraduate engineering programs offered, whereby students undertake two years of study at BITS Pilani (India) and then transfer to RMIT Melbourne complete a further two years study to complete both institutions qualifications.

The BITS RMIT Academy Director Professor Sudhir Kumar Barai spoke about the newest program and said: “We are embarking on a transformative academic journey with the launch of our newest venture under the collaborative dual degree program: the BE in Computer Science (BITS) and BE in Software Engineering (RMIT), a testament to the synergy between BITS Pilani and RMIT Australia under The Academy.”

RMIT Deputy Vice-Chancellor STEM College Professor Ian Burnett said: “I’m delighted that we’ve added a fifth program to our growing partnership. RMIT’s STEM courses are designed to equip graduates with job-ready skills for today and tomorrow, and it’s wonderful to have the opportunity expand The Academy’s offering.”

“The Academy already delivers a high-quality international education experience, while enriching the academic exchange between the two institutions. We’re now taking that partnership a step further, expanding our activity onto BITS Pilani’s Goa campus.”

This new program will be launched for the August 2024 intake, and students will be able to apply for the program with admissions currently open.
